Steps to Enrollment

Students interested in the Nursing Services programs should follow these steps.

1. Attend a mandatory information session
2. Apply for the program successfully (Access to the program Canvas is given after attendance of the information session. The program Canvas is not your Crafton Hills Canvas account.)
3. If you are selected for the program, accept the invitation (from the program Canvas) by the deadline. This will come to you at the email you provided on your application.
4. Attend the mandatory orientation (dates and times on the schedule of classes)
5. Enroll in all classes by the deadline (given once the student has been accepted and after the orientation)

Those who enter the program must be able to perform the duties of a CNA. A physical examination (completed within 90 days of admission) must be submitted using the Crafton Hills College Health Assessment/Physical Form. This form is available through the program Canvas.

The following immunizations will be required (subject to change at any time):

• TDAP (every 10 years)
• TB clearance (to be completed prior to receiving COVID-19 booster to avoid delays) accepted: 2-step Mantoux, TB Gold or clear Chest Xray less than 3 years old)
• Full COVID vaccine/booster (3 Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or J&J plus any booster)
• Seasonal flu shot (September-April). 

Also required:

• MMR and varicella immunity
• Background check (through CastleBranch)
• Drug test (through CastleBranch)

Students will need to provide evidence of vaccination and lab status. Copy must have applicant current name, date of the vaccine/test and the results.

 

What factors are taken into consideration in the student selection process for entrance into the Programs?

• Attend an information session (Must attend 45 out of the 60 minutes for credit).
• Have a Crafton Hills College student ID.
• Correctly and fully complete the application.
• Applicants will be randomly selected from the application pool for provisional acceptance.
• Students will be notified if they are provisionally accepted or accepted as an alternate after the fall application period has concluded. Acceptance letters will be distributed to provisionally accepted students and a signed acceptance letter must be returned by the requested deadline as indicated on the letter. If a student declines the invitation into the program, they must re-apply during a future semester.

What may I do while waiting to apply to the Crafton Hills CNA Program?

Please meet with a Crafton Hills College Counselor to assist with course options while you are waiting to apply to the programs.
